Install metrIQ on your phone

Add metrIQ to your home screen so it opens like an app — on Android, on iPhone, and from your computer.

metrIQ runs in your browser, but it's built to live on your home screen. Once installed it opens full-screen, with no address bar, and it remembers you between visits — it behaves like any other app on your phone. There's no App Store download involved.

The easy way

Open the menu and look under Documentation and Support: there's an Install app item. That's the shortcut on every device, and it does the right thing for the one you're holding.

On Android — and on Chrome or Edge on a computer — it opens your browser's own install dialog. Confirm, and the icon appears.

On iPhone and iPad it opens a short set of steps instead, because no browser on iOS can install an app for you. More on that below.

metrIQ also offers this on the last screen of onboarding, so if you signed up recently you may have seen it there. Either way, the Install app item disappears once metrIQ is installed — there's nothing left for it to do.

On iPhone and iPad

Every browser on iOS uses the same engine underneath, so none of them can install an app for you — not Safari, and not Chrome, Edge or Firefox either. What they can all do is add metrIQ to your home screen, which gets you the same full-screen app. They just keep the Share button in different places:

  1. Open metrIQ in your browser and find the Share button — in Safari it's in the bar along the bottom of the screen; in Chrome, Edge and Firefox it's up in the address bar.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Tap Add.

Chrome, Edge and Firefox only gained "Add to Home Screen" in iOS 16.4. If your iPhone is older than that, use Safari.

On Android

  1. Open metrIQ in Chrome.
  2. Tap the menu in the top right.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
  4. Tap Install.

From your computer

If you're signed in on a laptop and want metrIQ on your phone, open metriq.fitness/install. That page has a QR code — point your phone's camera at it and the address comes across without typing, along with the steps for your phone.

If nothing happens

A few things block installing:

  • You're in a private or incognito window. Installing is disabled there. Open metrIQ in a normal window and try again.
  • You're using an in-app browser — the one inside Instagram, Facebook or Gmail. Those have no "Add to Home Screen" at all. Tap the menu and choose Open in browser first, or open metriq.fitness in Safari or Chrome yourself.
  • It's already installed. Check your home screen and app drawer before installing again.
  • You tapped Install and then changed your mind. Your browser won't offer again in the same session. Reload metrIQ, or use your browser's own menu.
